Notice to Customers

DEAR ecommerce logic for Billing and Shipping contacts is changing

DEAR is changing its logic which determines how billing and shipping contacts are passed from eCommerce integrations to DEAR. We recommend users who have built their own API integrations using eCommerce contact fields to pay particular attention to this change.

NOTE: Shopify integrations will not be affected by this change.

Previous Logic:

The shipping contact is passed from an eCommerce integration and is used to populate both the Contact and ShipToContact field in DEAR. The billing contact is not passed from eCommerce integration to DEAR to assist with data protection.

New Logic:

The shipping contact is passed from an eCommerce integration and is used to populate the ShipToContact field in DEAR. The billing contact is passed from an eCommerce integration and is used to populate the Contact field in DEAR. If the billing field is left blank, shipping contact will also be used in the Contact field. This enables you to better handle situations where for example, someone purchases a product on behalf of someone else, or ships to a different person. Address Logic is unaffected.

Action Required:

Users who have custom API integrations with their website, and use the Contact field in their API integration code should check with their developer partners or website company if they need to change this to ShipToContact.
