Introduction:

With this release, our customers wanted more control over the actions employees could carry out in POS. DEAR has implemented new user permissions to enable/disable employees from:

Pre-conditions:

Functionality:

User permissions in POS can be enabled/disabled from the DEAR web portal only. Permissions cannot be changed from the DEAR POS application.

  1. Go to Integrations → DEAR POS → [select store] and go to the Users tab.
  2. All POS users for this store are shown with the list of available permissions.
  3. Use the check boxes to enable/disable permissions for each user.

By default, when a new user is added from the POS application all permissions are disabled. An administrator or web portal user will need to enable the correct permissions for the new user from the web portal.

NOTE: Stock value and item value are visible by going to Reports → Inventory from the POS application menu. Administrators have access to report information for all outlets for this POS store. Managers only have access to the report information for the outlet that is assigned to them. Cashiers never have access to report information.

Feature 2: Change order of payment workflow in POS checkout

Impact area:

Applicable to POS application only.

Introduction:

Previously to this release, users would carry out POS payment workflow by first specifying the payment amount then selecting the payment method (credit card, cash, etc.) Selecting the payment method would then complete the sale. This workflow order was inconvenient as users would often forget to check the amount before selecting the payment method.

With this release, users have the option of keeping the payment amount first, or specifying the payment method first, whichever sequence of steps works best for their business requirements.

Pre-conditions:

Functionality:

Payment workflow order can be changed in POS from the DEAR web portal only.

  1. Go to Integrations → DEAR POS → [select store] and go to the Setup tab.
  2. Look for the Payment workflow order setting – you can select whether to show Payment amount first or Payment method first
  3. Save your changes to continue. The changes will be applied to the POS application. Users may need to refresh the application for the new setting to take effect.

Feature 3: Shopify – Processing of duties and duty taxes

Impact area:

Shopify integration

Introduction:

When goods are sold to a customer in a different country, duties may be charged. Duties are taxed and both duties and duty tax are returned to the customer during refund – this is a Shopify Advanced Mode feature. Before this release, DEAR was not capturing duty taxes correctly, this has now been changed so that duty amounts and duty taxes are correctly captured and synced.

Pre-conditions:

Functionality:

This is an automatic change, users do not have to take any additional action. Duty amount and duty taxes are now gathered from order lines and aggregated into two amounts. These amounts will be added to the sale in DEAR as an Additional Charge and its taxes. The same process will occur when processing refunds and issuing credit notes.
